Billionaire Thinking About Buying Villa

If this crazy Venezualan billionaire actually buys Villa (he wants to use us to promote premiership football on his South American TV stations), we'll be richer than Chelski!

I heard some bloke is planning to make a banner at Villa Park saying
"WE'RE CONSIDERABLY RICHER THAN YOW!"

Please, please, please, buy our club!

He goes fishing with George Bush Snr apparently - has a few connections...

Do you think he could get the USA to invade St Andrews?
that would be funny

Maybe he could get them to drop a massive stink bomb from space into the centre circle.

Or write "Robbie Savage is a twat" in huge letters on the moon.

but as everyone knows it is one of the unversal axioms of the premier league that Villa will finsh about 15th, which always happens, without fail, evey year, don't see why the arrival of a huga ampount of cash should change anything, It might mean that villa fnsh 7th or something.

Man: Villa, the biggest team in the mid-table.
Other Man: didn't you mean midlands?

Villa's finishing positions since Premiership began:

1992/93 - 2nd
1993/94 - 10th
1994/95 - 18th
1995/96 - 4th
1996/97 - 5th
1997/98 - 7th
1998/99 - 6th
1999/00 - 6th
2000/01 - 8th
2001/02 - 8th
2002/03 - 16th

(so claiming that Villa usually finish 15th is a 'slight' mistatement. Only been outside the top 10 twice)

Villa Honours
European Cup - 1
European Super Cup - 1
English Top Flight Champions - 7
FA Cup winners - 7
League Cup winners - 5

(probably the 3rd or 4th most succesful English club? Certainly not as good as Manure, nowhere near Liverpool, about the same as Arsenal?)

Prediction for next season: comfortable 7th. FA Cup semi finals. Angel to be nominated for PFA player of the year (but not to win).

Prediction for Leeds - RELEGATION!!! Jody Morris in prison. Alan Smith sets new record for most red cards in a season. Club disolves due to financial situation.

I fully agree with your Leeds United Prognosis.

My Aston Villa estimate should have been.

About 9th is what I should have said, but you get the point, Villa are universally not quite there safe, but not particularly impressve either, regardless of their players.

Remember when for about 3 consecutive years under Gregory, Villa would start the season on fire - be top of the league at Christmas, then lose every single game for about 4 months and finish 7th?

No-one could understand it, we clearly had the players to play well on a consistent basis, they just couldn't maintain that for the whole season.
Bizarre.

There is an air of optimism amongst Villa fans now - players seem happier with O'Leary in charge, we might have ?4billion in the bank by next week...

I predict that deadly doug will scare this rich venezuelan off and then die and villa will be in trouble.

i can't see Ellis letting go.
