True "Fantasy Football":
Two promotion-chasing Indian football teams have been suspended for
cheating after scoring an incredible 116 goals between them in their
final games of the season.
Promotion rivals Curtorim Gym and Wilfred Leisure went into the last
round of matches level on points, but with Curtorim seven ahead on goal
difference.
As both teams attempted to out-score the other, Curtorim finished with a
61-1 win over Sangolda Lightning, while Wilfred thumped Dona Paula
Sports Club 55-1.
When the half-time interval arrived, there was little sign of what was
to follow. Wilfred Leisure were a mere 6-0 up, while their challengers
were being held to a humble 1-1 draw.
But when news filtered through of how the other team was doing, all hell
broke loose and the crazy scoring antics began.
Both teams were vying for promotion from the second division of Goa's
regional league, but after the 'unusual' results, they have been
suspended for a year, together with their unworthy opponents Sangolda
and Dona Paula.
Goa Football Association secretary Savio Messias said, "It is really
unfortunate. We have suspended all four teams for one year and have
recommended that they should be expelled permanently."
Unlucky,
